Salvador Dali’s body was recently exhumed this past summer to collect samples in order to settle a paternity claim. Fortune teller, Maria Pilar Abel, claims to be Dali’s only child and heir to a quarter of his estate. The 61-year-old defends her mother’s tale of the affair she had with Dali back in 1955. After almost 10 years of trying to prove that Dali is her biological father, Spanish officials finally granted access to his tomb.

The exhumation took place at a museum Dali built in his hometown in Spain. After his death in 1989, Dali was embalmed and placed in a crypt below the museum. Forensic doctors were excited to see the famous painter and were surprised to find that his iconic 10 past 10 mustache was still perfectly intact.

No one can deny the resemblance between Abel and Dali. However, results came back showing that Dali is not the father and remains childless. Dali is quoted saying “Great geniuses produce mediocre children, and I don’t want to go through that experience,” giving no indication that he ever wanted any children.
