Peter Max's Liberty Head

“I never know what I’m going to put on the canvas. The canvas paints itself. I’m just the middleman. ”  – Peter Max

This past Friday was our Master of the Month Event featuring artist Peter Max.
We had a great turn out for this event. Local “Meet Up” groups, art lovers and Baterbys friends all joined together in supporting an amazing cause.

In total, Baterbys raised $280 in donations to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital. If you are not familiar with this foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Ranked the No. 1 pediatric cancer hospital by Parents magazine, St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children and has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world.

Our neighbor, Cuba Libre, provided us with delicious food such as a variety of cheeses with thinly sliced meat, black bean hummus, NY steak strips, spiced chicken and rice, crab ceviche, and mouthwatering mini desserts. All of which was accompanied by beautifully hand crafted cocktails.

During the event we hosted three raffles, during which eight lucky winners walked away with St. Jude memorabilia, Baterbys gift card, and even two Peter Jan Shuwin framed art works!

The best part of this event, besides aiding St. Jude’s, was the unending conversations about the Max collection that was on display. Our Baterbys team did a great job of curating this event to have a flow of themes and series. On one side of the gallery there was a group of Rolling Stones fans reminiscing about their favorite album and how they all had Peter Max binders or pencils. On the other side of the gallery there was a group debating their favorite portraits out of the Peter Max Masters Series. All in all, there is nothing like spending a Friday night with a great group of people discussing art. For more upcoming events, please check our website or Facebook page at anytime. We hope to see you at our next event!
