Born in 1965 to a military doctor and a classical pianist, Elena Bond originated from Russia, where she started drawing at a very early age with any medium she could find. At 11 years of age, Bond attended her first art school in St. Petersburg, then the State College of Art in Uzbekistan at 15. She has a rare style, and paints with thick, smudging lines, which up close appear to be just swirling colors and shapes. At a distance, however, all of the choppy shapes make an astonishingly organized, picturesque composition. Bond never settles for one form of design though; her work ranges from simple portrait and still life to difficult, multi-figured art. She currently resides in Miami and works as a scenic designer for the Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida.
