About the Art

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls,” -Picasso. One of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, Picasso was a painter, sculptor, print maker, ceramicist and stage designer. He was the co-creator of cubism, but he changed his style so frequently his life’s work looks like the product of multiple artists. Picasso devoted himself to an artistic production that he superstitiously believed would keep him alive for the majority of his life, contributing significantly to, and paralleling the entire development of, modern art in the 20th century.

Depicted in this piece are three men, one is playing an instrument. While very surrealistic, this work is very reminiscent of Greek art and culture. Picasso’s etchings are a great example of how technical and skillful his line work was.
