About the Art
Joan Miro was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist born in Barcelona. He cannot be said to have identified consistently with a single school. Rather, his artistic career may be characterized as one of persistent experimentation and a lifelong flirtation with non-objectivity. Miró’s signature biomorphic forms, geometric shapes, and semi-abstracted objects are expressed in multiple media, from ceramics and engravings to large bronze installations.
This original lithograph is one in a series of six total. It explores the struggles of Seers who find themselves in between two worlds. This work epitomize Miro’s blend of influences including the art of children, Catalan folklore, and the subconscious.
