About the Art
Vincent George grew up in Newburgh, New York and aspired to be an artist at a young age. He was inspired by his father and uncle, who were both artists, as well has his hometown. When he began to practice art he took brown paper bags and fashioned them into a canvas. While the not smooth surface wouldn’t work as well for paint he enjoyed using charcoal. He attended the Savannah College of Art and Design for a year before transferring to The Pratt Institute. While he did enjoy Brooklyn he missed the rural settings of his home more which is some of the main focuses of his work. He eventually ended up in Georgia where he finally made art his full time job.
Depicted in this piece is a golf course. His subtle use of color gives this piece the feel of the last weeks of fall, right before the first snow.
