About the Art
Jack Levine was an American Social Realist painter and print maker best known for his satires on modern life, political corruption, and biblical narratives. He grew up in Boston and studied drawing at Harvard University.
This piece is an excellent example of Levine’s technical skill and his talent to distort reality. The face of the man is extremely detailed while his clothing is fairly abstracted and hands are barely a sketch. The multiple different stylistic approaches combined truly makes this piece unique.
