About the Art

This is a lithograph after a panel from Chagall’s stained glass series the Jerusalem Windows.  He created designs for twelve windows at the Hadassah Hebrew University Medical School in Israel. The windows contain animal and floral imagery, and each window represents a different tribe of Israel. The Jerusalem Windows reflect the love Chagall had for his Jewish heritage.

Chagall was a versatile artist who worked in almost every medium. In his work he fused multiple artistic styles with symbols from his Jewish heritage.
