About the Art

This is an original lithograph after a mixed media painting by Salvador Dali. It is one of twenty-five images in his Aliyah series which commemorated the 20th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel. It is hand signed by Dali.

In this image, Dali poignantly captures the feeling of grief. The woman represents Rivka Guber, an early settler in the Land of Israel who lost two sons in the Israeli War for Independence. Dali expressively portrays the anguish of a mother who lost her children.
