About the Art
This is an original acrylic painting on paper by the highly collectible artist Peter Max. Known for his use of loose brushstrokes and bright colors, Max’s work captures the spirit of the 1960s and ’70s through psychedelic and counter culture themes. He has a tendency to use the entire color spectrum in his works which adds to the psychedelic 60’s feel. Depicted in this piece is a man standing at the sea with an umbrella. The darker tones on each side of him pull your attention to the brighter center of the painting. The brilliant hues he uses for the sea gives it a very cosmic, other world feel. It is almost how you would imagine a perfect sunset would look at the sea. The variety of color he uses, while still keeping the piece balanced, shows the true skill he has with color and space.
